A new face of Outsourcing in India

Legal process outsourcing (LPO) is one of the indispensable part of BPO, which involves the outsourcing of Legal work to offshore companies. Legal outsourcing services have increased rapidly in past few years especially in US. India has been considered as one of the most successful service provider in this domain and includes the services like Legal research, Legal Review, Legal Writing, Drafting of pleadings and Patent services.
These Legal services comprises of both high and low end works. The high end service includes Patent research, legal research, legal review, patent application drafting etc and requires qualified lawyers. On the other end the low end work includes Transcription, document coding, secretarial services, memo drafting etc. and does not require a qualified lawyers. India has been successful in providing both kind of services to its clients with quality due to the availability of large pool of qualified lawyers from good institutions and with the ability of good English understanding, speaking and writing.
Yes I agree that this would have not been possible without the support, patience and training of clients, but at the same time we cannot deny the fact that by one time investment in training the clients have not only started receiving the quality they were interested at but at the same time the strong understanding of work requirements and quality deliverables boosted their confidence in Indian LPO market. “Pricewaterhouse Coopers in its study has analyzed in detail the growth of LPO industry. They have found that legal services outsourcing provides the highest cost savings of 44% in comparison to other markets. The research also revealed that LPO services realize the highest profit margin for providers, with an average margin of 29%, ahead of IT (24%), finance and accounting (21%) and procurement (19%). All these figures are indicative of the fact that legal outsourcing is the best avenue to provide cost saving, which in the present state of economic slowdown is the most coveted prize. The research also highlights the expansion plans of LPO service providers that points the increase in business meted out to them”.
The law firms around the world can get the benefit of outsourcing legal work to India, thereby saving a lot of amount, and access to large pool of highly qualified lawyers. The LPO industry in India has well established itself in India in understanding / providing quality services in the domain of Intellectual Property, legal research, legal review, document analysis etc. One of the reasons is that the Indian legal system is similar to that of US, UK, Canada and parts of Europe.
Well we cannot deny the fact that the industry is still booming in India and most of the companies are taking advantage of it in terms of their costs, services, time lines, quality and many other benefits which are not seen but are felt to a larger extent.
